And Ryan O'Neal was gorgeous.

Yeah, I know. My comment was a criticism of the writer of the movie, not you.

I just hate the line. If the guy really thinks that's what love is, he has a pretty selfish view of love.

Thats right! All hippies back in the 60s and early 70s wanting all that peace so no more young men would die for nothing was really narcissistic on our part! All of us hippies wanting clean air and water for future generations was really narcissistic on our part. And the equal rights for minorities and women we fought for were all just narcissism! May the powers that be build a leaky nuclear plant in your back yard. Since we lost that fight.

I'm a boomer, and it sure felt like a criticism of me/my generation vs. the author. BTW, I agree with you...always felt it was a rather stupid line.

I hate to say it, as I saw this film at the cinema in London when it came out, but I thought
it was rubbish. I took a girl to see it, and I remember she sure did cry. I've never seen it
since. I've still got the souvenir brochure I bought in the cinema at the time. You used to
get those things in those days when a big film was on.

I saw it in a theater in Chicago. There were 5 nuns in the row ahead of us and they were sobbing at the end of it. I was crying, too.

I think "Summer of '42" came out around the same time. I always liked that one better than "Love Story."
