*sigh* I TRIED watching Anchorman, since I'd heard so much about it, and I DO like Will Ferrell, but after half an hour I just had to turn it off. I guess I just didn't "get" the humor. And NOW I'm seeing so many commercials with him in character, it just doesn't resonate with me. Oh well.

Agree. When I saw the original I thought there were some funny bits but I didn't really LOL. But it had funny lines. May be better on cable with a few beers. But I may go see it as my token movie for the season.

am I the only one who feels like the trailers seem to be advertising a new TV series, not a movie?

I saw this movie yesterday. If you just critiqued it for what it was, the movie wasn't very good.

But as a fan of the first Anchorman, I thought the sequel was pretty friggin' funny. Just more of what we got in the first one. One liners, silly sexual references, and Will Ferrel being Will Ferrel LOL

I can't believe I had to wait this long for someone to show up who actually saw the movie. I've been checking in to see what people thought.

Hey at least you saw funny in the previews. I thought this had to be the dumbest movie that I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot. I guess it's safe to say that I will not be standing in line to see Anchorman 2-EVER! Most over-rated piece of crap movie EVER! They underutilized Steve Carol and that guy who was in the movie "Waiting". Those guys are funny, Will not so much! Got to go. That's all the posts I'm posting today.

This film would have been great if the sequel came out... six years ago. Now I'm just going to be reminded of how old everyone is which will inevitably lead to me thinking about how old I am.

Anchorman was funny when it first came out, but it definitely didn't age well.

I liked Anchorman 2.
There were a couple of times where they just went so far out of the realm of realism, which for my own personal tastes I'm not a big fan of. But I just reminded myself that it's a movie and what the hell? And I was able to laugh along.

I really liked the theme of the movie, it was an indictment of the media and the overall agenda of the 24 hour "news" stations and how it has hurt not only journalism but the country as a whole. There is a really good line towards the end of the movie that I won't type as it may seem like a spoiler but also because I don't remember it word for word, but it's the perfect description of what we are facing now with our media. Unfortunately I think the message will be lost as it was buried under a lot of silly, but funny, stuff.

Saw this movie last night. Dumb. Not funny. That's my review. I wish I had seen The Wolf of Wall Street instead.

I love the first Anchorman it's just that dumb humor and a lot of good one liners. Then I saw Anchorman 2 and overall it was just OK. The base story of the 24 hour news was actually decent but trying to throw humor in, it just seemed misplaced throughout the movie. Brick(Steve Carrell) just seemed off the mark, while the battle scene towards the end was just over the top IMO. Something happens to Ron(Will Ferrell) physically towards the end that just made no damn sense.

It just seems the staff tried waaayyyy to hard to produce good one liners.
