Now that the 3rd trailer has been released, I'm predicting a box office of $580 million. Ticket prices have risen since 2008 when TDK came out and I'm sure this movie will be shown in more HD theaters and screens. TDK made $533 million domestically and I'm figuring about 47 million more for this one. Set for release on July 20th.
The more trailers I watch for this movie, the less I want to see it. I'm going to wait and see on this one. I'll pay attention to audience reaction and general reviews, then decide. I loved The Dark Knight, but I was rather underwhelmed on Nolan's first Batflick -- and this one looks similar. I may wait for the DVD on #3.
They're predicting $400 mil, admitting it might top out at $500 mil. With no Heath Ledger buzz, I just don't see TDKR doing anywhere near $600 mil, but we'll see....

They might if they ending jacking up the ticket prices again.
To me Batman always seemed like an overrated superhero (as is Captain America, sorry!). I have only liked one Batman movie in my life - The Dark Knight, and that was solely because of Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker (oh and the fantastic soundtrack by Hans Zimmer), could not care less about Christian Bale playing Batman and that creepy voice. I will watch this one in the theater though because I am sure the visuals will be spectacular and everyone will be talking about it anyway and I don't want to be left out of the discussions !!
I think it will pull in around $420 million internationally within the first 12 weeks of its US release, and that will continue and taper off around a total of $550 million by the time it leaves most US theaters and heads towards DVDs.

Ha ha, right on! I agree, I don't know what it is but I never liked Christian Bale as the Batman and his utterly fake creepy sounding voice as Batman is laughable similar to the fake deep, tough guy voice the Winchester brothers use in the TV show Supernatural. Christian just doesn't have the Batman look, not like Michael Keaton did. Heath Ledger, needless to say, made the 2nd installment an epic movie and I doubt they will find an equally talented and coked up villain again.....but who knows?
I am thinking 55% Netflix / 45% movie theater for #3.

In the comics, Batman is one of the greatest characters ever. But that is something that NONE of the live action movies have been able to capture. They've done a good job of making the villains interesting, but Batman ... not so much.
And I agree about Bale. He's a decent Bruce Wayne. But his Batman is comical --- and mocked to great effect on NBC's Community. Thank you, Abed!
But I never liked Keaton as Batman either. He would've made a great Joker though.
Sorry, but these kinds of things really tick me off, not only the attempt to build buzz on a movie that's essentially just a franchise, but particularly the focus on money, which often has no relation to quality.
