Thanks BWP, I'd been wondering if it might have been something like that - something terminal. It is sad and we really need an acceptable alternative for people in that position.

Wow, that's pretty sad. I didn't know much about Tony Scott's life, but he made a lot of the films that I grew up watching. All those big glossy action films my brother and I watched as kids in the late 80s/early 90s were made by Tony Scott--Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Beverly Hills Cop II, The Last Boy Scout, Crimson Tide--they were good thrill ride-type of blockbusters.

True Romance though was his best film---Quentin Tarrantino wrote the script for that one and originally wanted to direct it himself, but even he remarked that he though Tony Scott did a great job with that film.

I heard this report on the radio yesterday afternoon that someone had jumped off of the Vincent Thomas Bridge. It doesn't happen often but when someone jumps off that bridge they absolutely don't want to be stopped.

Spoiler

Terminal, inoperable brain cancer.

He checked out the way he wanted, before cancer got him.

He made big movies, and he went out the way he wanted, - the director.

R.I.P. Tony Scott

Tragic. My favorite film of his was "True Romance". Condolences to his family.

Now news reports are saying he didn't have brain cancer.

I guess the guy just had enough.
