1. The Exorcist - This is probably the only movie that really terrified me. I don't think it was the thought of being possessed by a demon either-- rather it was the makeup and the acting of the little girl in the movie. Something about her was just horrifying. It was probably also the most shocking movie I've ever seen... To this day I refuse to watch it again-- just too scary for me!
2. My favorite horror movie though is probably Scream. I like the new concepts brought up (i.e. about motives), the intense scenes, and the general "cool" sense of the movie. I enjoy watching this one over and over again-- whenever it comes on TV. Didn't think the sequels lived up to the first one though. Another favorite that comes to mind is Saw, which I thought was fairly clever and kind of started a whole new genre of movie (or at least popularized it). The sequels to it also haven't been as good as the original.
3. My favorite horror genre would have to be either slasher (like psycho, scream, urban legends) or paranormal/religious thriller (think Sixth Sense, Omen). The only torture movies I enjoy are the Saw's. Most torture movies are just too much for me-- especially some of the new ones coming out these days like Human Centipede, The Girl Next Door.
1. The original (1970's) Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I saw it as a youngster (probably at around 12 years old) and was absolutely terrified. That movie scared me more than anything, probably b/c of the chainsaws (duh!) and the "family" aspect.
2. I am not really into scary movies but I love Hitchcocks "Psycho." The fact that it is shot in black and white (no [red] blood!) and that you don't see any real gore but get the full effect (great sound effects) is what always impressed me the most; there is very little that is gratuitous. It really is innovative in that it is both scary and artful at the same time. My favorite shots are the close up of Janet Leigh's eye that pans out from her lifeless body and the water swirling down the drain.
3. My favorite genre is paranormal/religious as well, although I also love ghosts. I prefer to be creeped out rather than scared ****less.
Scariest Movie - The Exorcist
Hands down probably the scariest movie of all time. Nothing more frightening than dealing with demons. The fact that this was/could be REAL is what makes it so frightening.
2. Favorite Horror Movie - Phantasm
Scary but still fun to watch. One of those that you can watch over and over with friends on Halloween.
Favorite Horror Genre - Id say Religious/Paranormal
Again, when demons/spirits are involved nothing is/can be scarier. The slasher and other scary type movies dont really scare me at all if its just some human dude doing the killing. I am afraid of no man so those movies dont scare me at all.
1. Scariest movie you have seen?
Curse of the Demon
Carnival of Souls
Sixth Sense
(Original version) Haunting of Hill House
2. Favorite horror movie?
More of a ghost story, spooky but not gruesome: Lady in White The Changeling (NOT the Angelina Jolie movie--this suspenseful, creepy 1980 movie is based on a true story that happened in Denver, Colorado) Lost Boys Loved the black humor and the bit of a twist at the end 3. Favorite Horror Genre? (Slasher / Religious / Paranormal / Ghosts / Vampires / Zombies...etc)
Ghosts
Scariest.....HALLOWEEN(original)
Favorite.....JEEPERS CREEPERS(original)
Genre.......minimal slash and more psychological terror.....similar to the above films.
Scariest: sorry, I have 3: The Exorcist, especially the expanded version (though I saw the original as a child and was scarred for life!). The Descent scared the heck out of me also. I hate tight, dark places! I also find J-horror and horror movies from other Asian countries to be pretty unnerving. Ringu freaked me out, more so than The Ring ever could
Favorite: The Shining or Ringu
Genre: definitely paranormal, followed closely by psychological (though a lot of the latter seems to fall into the "thriller" category)
