A week before the series ended I discovered Flashpoint so I am deep into that. That show is absolutely phenomenal. It is one of a few shows where every episode feels like a feature movie.
If you have have a desire the check it out, the episode "Last Dance" is probably top 5 best acted anything I have ever seen.
I watch a lot of documentaries. The ESPN 30 for 30 series has had some spectacular subjects, like Ben Johnson and steroids, or the Allen Iverson trial before he entered the NBA. I also really liked Pink Ribbons Inc, about the commercialization of breast cancer.
For movies, I'm more likely to check out foreign films, especially horror. Outside of horror, I liked "The Wave." It's a German movie about a social experiment. Can you recreate the mindset of Nazi Germany during present day?
Watched "Quest for Fire" last night. The best caveman movie.
Agreed. What an amazing movie, considering how old that movie was. I remember the first time I watched it when I was just a kid in the early 1980s. It was a little too adult theme for me at that time but it was such an amazing movie that in even in 2012 I still remember that movie and wanted to watch it again...this time through an adult eye.
I just saw Bernie as well. I think it's a masterpiece. It's now my favorite Linklater film although I do love the Before Sunrise/Before Sunset movies. It is definitely the greatest role of Jack Black's career and the acting all around is excellent. Can't recommend this one highly enough.
Battle Royale- Definately a better version of "The Hunger Game". A lot more action, lot more killing. Downside, it did not end well for most of the characters.

Loved that movie. I too believe that Battle Royale was more of what The Hunger Games should've been.
I haven't read the book, but from what I hear Hunger Games was a lot more violent on paper than it was on film. I understand they were going for the most money, so PG-13 allowed a broader audience, but I'm kinda disappointed.
