All I can say is Tarantino is a genius, I really liked this movie. It's deep and so real. It gives you some history about my hometown too "Greenville". Fox and DiCaprio played their roles to the max. I know some people may be a lil sensitive about the content is this movie, but if it wasn't there, then it wouldn't be real. I would also like to hear other people thoughts on the movie as well.
I didn't have a problem with the content. My problem was all the excessive violence, plus the fact that it didn't say much of anything, except that "Slavery is bad."
By the way, Skel1977, I also have no problem with this being another thread - partly because the first one is so long that it's unwieldy, and partly because that just began with a link, while this is focusing on personal reaction.

what does this post even mean? i cant tell if you are being funny or if you claiming it cant be "deep" due to the thread you posted where someone tried to stir up trouble about a movie that wasnt even out yet. it was "deep" it was very interesting and very witty as well.
To everyone else: I strongly suggest if it looks interesting to you, go see it despite what other people (who usually don't know what they're talking about) you will enjoy yourself. ALso, i didnt pay attention to the time (i didnt even realize) but its really long.
and to Skel, i could be wrong, but this is the only thread i've seen that actually discusses people's thoughts on the movie. the other thread i know of is the above posted one that discusses the drama for the not yet released film, why should we have to discuss the movie there?
I just saw this today, and enjoyed it immensely. I love Tarantino, so that was pretty much a given. I really like watching what Tarantino has been doing in regards to altering history with his special brand of storytelling. The audience in my theatre really enjoyed it, as well.
I thought it was just ok. Entertaining but flawed, I found the characters far more interesting than the storyline and Broomhilda was seriously lacking in depth.
Dr. Schultz (played by Christopher Waltz) was amazing in this movie...his character was by far the most interesting to me. The acting was superb but I did not like all the violence and felt a lot of anxiety during the entire movie. It was very long but had a good pace to it. I felt the audience was a little shocked by it...
Silver Linings Playbook was much better.
