Since I didn't see every single movie released in 2012, I can only comment about the ones I saw. By far the worst was Hunger Games. Then Skyfall. Both popular overhyped movies that were incredibly dull, soulless slop.

I would agree with The Devil Inside as a good candidate. The worst for me was Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. I don't think I laughed once. Dishonorable mentions go to Lockout, Wanderlust, American Reunion, Dark Shadows, Amazing Spider Man and Total Recall. Total wastes of time and money.

Worst for me in 2012 - Thankfully I did not really see many bad films last year :

The Raven ( on the plane )
Taken ( on the plane)
Bel Ami ( utter piece of crap - very pretty to look at and utterly hollow )
Wanderlust ( on the plane)
This means War ( On the plane)

Basically worst films were seen on flights, possibly because they usually show films I would never pick unless a captive audience.

Many excellent films though....

Best :

Monrise Kingdom
Headhunters
Monsieur Lazhar
Coriolanus
Martha Marcy May Marlene
Once Upon a time in Anatolia
Le Havre
The Kid with the Bike
Albert Nobb
The Source
Rust and Bone
Amour
The Hunter
Women on the 6th Floor
The Bird
Untouchable
Barbara
The Master
The Hunt
I Anna
