No I didn't get the shot, cause I just got cortisone injected in my hip, and its a bad combination.

According to Bill Hanage, an epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health, a flu season's severity boils down to the susceptibility of the population and the types of viruses vying to infect.
Predominant in the air this year is an H3N2 virus. "That virus is always associated with high numbers of hospitalizations and deaths," said Finelli. "It hasn't circulated in recent years, so there are a lot of susceptibles. It has the opportunity to make a lot of people sick." The Huffington Post

BTW: I did go to the movie and loved it !!! Not feeling sick yet.

You cant live your life worrying about catching the flu.

That is NOT LIVING.

I didn't sign up for any retiree classes this semester because they cram too many of us in a classroom. I used to hate to ride the train at rush hour for the same reason.

This could become the plot of a good movie. Killer virus attacks movie goers. Oh wait... "The Blob" Guess it would have to be a sequel "The Booger That Killed Manhattan". Speaking of which, I would much rather go to a nice movie that crowd onto the subway or into an elevator. It could be like that scene in "Soylant Green."

Reducing exposure to the flu during flu season isn't a bad idea. When you can't....work etc. you can't, you just wash your hands and try to be careful. Not going out of the house is maybe a bit extreme but there are some good ideas here about paying cash, taking some wipes, going during a non-peak time. Doesn't hurt to go out and live and be smart about it.

This version might be aptly named Bubble Beauty Barbie's Big Adventure

Barb, I like Jaypee's idea the best. Dress like that and tell the person in the ticket booth that you are the exterminator and will be spraying Theater #X. That way you go in free and also don't catch the flu!
Don't worry about driving in that gear after the movies, I am sure people from the mental hospital will give you a ride!

PS. Or, you can stay home and watch the movie Outbreak!

Agreed. I have been doing this. The flu season started early, And we have a ways to go. Unless you stay in your home and do not venture outside until March there is no eliminating the risk, but you can reduce it. Go to the movies on a weekday afternoon or very early on the weekend. There are less seat-kickers, cell phone users and morons to distract your viewing experience as it is during those times.
