I remember walking in while my parents were watching a movie on HBO (back in the mid 80's), and there was a scene with a killer wearing a S&M style black leather body suit, it had the cut outs for the eyes and a zipper over the mouth (scary stuff!). In this particular scene he was chasing a woman and she ran into a garage and tried to close the door, but the door wouldn't close fast enough and he was coming under it. I'm assuming this movie was made in the early 80's, although it could be late 70's. It gave me nightmares for a long time when I was a kid.

Any ideas?

Maybe "10 To Midnight" from 1983.

I saw it on HBO in the early 80's. Here is the trailer.

I'm very certain it's "Blackout". Click on the link to see the movie poster, in which he wears the mask described. Also, watch the trailer, which shows parts of the garage scene, with the attacker in full leather attire.

In "10 to Midnight", isn't the killer nude when he kills? / Yes, he is. I found this as support.

From Wikipedia: Stacy avoids prosecution by constructing sound alibis and assaulting his victims while naked, thus minimizing evidence.

I think you are correct. But the other movie came to mind when I was reading the OP question.

You're welcome!

It took me a bit to bring the leading man to mind; once I did, I knew that I would recognize the title. I haven't seen this film since it originally aired, so it took a bit of thinking before I dredged up the face that fit this role. I recall it being a good, creepy movie.

I found the whole movie on YouTube, and was able to watch it on my Wii.
