In its third week the domestic box office has dropped dramatically.
At my local multi plex theater there's only one screen showing Godzilla now (non 3D), a little over a week ago it was still on three screens including IMAX 3D.
It may not reach 200 million domestically, so it can hardly be considered a box office disappointment considering it's 90 million plus opening weekend exceeded all expectations.

Virtually all films experience a decline at the box office after the first week. Generally, it's a continued decline week after week.
After only 17 days in release, Godzilla has grossed $174 million domestically. In the last week, it has grossed $43 million. Even if we assume a 40% decline week after week, Godzilla will still surpass $200 million domestically within the next two weeks. Again, after only 17 days in release, there is plenty of time to pull out another $30-40 million domestically.
Sales at the foreign box office is showing no signs of slowing down. Plus, it has yet to open in China and Japan. Godzilla is looking at $500-$700 million at the box office.

"Godzilla" towered over the competition at the box office this weekend, as Gareth Edwards' update on the classic Japanese monster tale defied industry expectations to post the second-biggest opening of the year.

Legendary Pictures’ reboot of the classic monster movie opened in China on Friday with a $10.9 million debut, the country’s biggest opening day of the year and Warner Bros.’ biggest-ever opening in China, Deadline reports.
Thought it was pretty good. The only thing thaey could have done better was maybe show godzilla more and i thought the fight scenes were a bit short
I thought it was fine as the first scene in Hawaii was a prelude to the scene in San Francisco which was pretty long but not quite Transformers: Dark of the Moon long.
It won't hit the 'magic' 600 million mark I think the producers would have liked. Nonetheless the movie can be considered a success, and a sequel is being planned.

Legendary wanted at least a $400m global performance, which makes $400m the "magic number," not $600m. Whether Godzilla reaches $600m remains to be seen, but the mid $500m range is highly likely.
Godzilla has grossed almost $480m globally. Not to mention, it is only in its second weekend in China - the world's second largest movie market - where it is expected to gross $100m, and has not even opened in Japan, the world's third largest movie market.
Godzilla is already a box office success.

Yeah, I know you do. Look, I think for us if the movie does- I’d really like for it to at least have a four in front of it globally, and if it does that we’re in a good position.
