I am a huge fan, Having watched Godzilla and his friends and foes as a kid. The last remake was terrible but I am going to see this new one anyway. Though those memories of the old schools Godzilla and monsters doing karate moves and all it's often cheesiness can never be outdone.

The flying drop kicks in King Kong vs. Godzilla.

Part of my love for the originals was the cheesy affects and off sync dubbing.

The new one will be ten minutes of story telling and rest an hour and half action sequence that leaves you mentally exhausted.

Godzilla (98) was a box office success at $379 million. If Godzilla (2013) has a similar tone to, let's say, Cloverfield, it should do good.

Gojira (1954). Yes, a classic. 1954 vs. 2014. I'll be there next May. You can see Takeshi Shimura at the bottom of the vintage poster, aka Kambei Shimada, from Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai (and Sanshiro Sugata, The Most Beautiful, The Men Who Tread on the Tiger's Tail, Drunken Angel, Stray Dog, Scandal, Rashomon, The Idiot, Ikiru, Throne of Blood, etc.).

The trailer looks nice. I thought Godzilla was a cool dude when I was younger, so I may check this out.

I don't like how big they made him. He's like a damn skyscraper.

Looks awesome. I'm very glad to see that they're going for a fairly serious tone rather than indulging in camp. Time to make Godzilla scary again.
