The latest in a flood of Ip Man films. This one seems to try to be a bit more accurate to his life story than the Donnie Yen films. That's what they're saying, anyway. To me it seems to be as much about Kung Fu in general. Ip Man just happens to be the vessel they use to tell the story.
Who's seen it? How do you like it compared to the Donnie Yen versions?
I'm interested to see what others have to say. The Donnie Yen Ip Man films, while entertaining, have a lot of fiction to them. At least according to what I've read about him.
I believe Ip Man was a policeman and went to Hong Kong during WWII. He was also reported to be an opium addict and trained students in Wing Chun as an income.
I've also read disputes as to how much, or how little, he actually instructed Bruce Lee as Ip Man most likely had his senior students teach Lee more than he did himself.
However, his influence in martial arts has been and continues to be huge.
I know IP man is Bruce Lee's master.
I am not familiar with Donnie Yen , he should be a martial arts star
