Just watched the trailer. I'll admit it does seem at lot less campy than the original, which I wholeheartedly detest.

I don't know you might have to sit down todays young innovators and tell them to part with their smart phones, twitter and facebook accts for few moments to formulate a few storyline unique to these times. Otherwise, us old folks will just enjoy the good old oldies in their retelling, that is if and when those are any good.

But the Ford Taurus needs to. That vehicle had as much a starring role in the movie as Weller did.

Watching that trailer made me feel like I was watching any old generic robot movie. It just looks like it's going to be a boring hour and a half waste of my life. Pass.

We may not have the exploding bad guy scene either, When the thug got covered in toxic waste and got hit by a car. The original was violent, From Murphys injuries to the end fight scene.

I hope it's in the movie. I remember reading an article a while back that had pictures of them filming and it had the Taurus in it. I didn't see any in the trailer, though.

Actually the reason that there are so many remakes is because there were so few entertainment options back in the day. Therefore, everyone had common movies and television shows that they "all' saw. Nowdays there is way too much competition to start something out of whole cloth. Honestly, I cannot think of a single new franchise that wasn't at least based on a successful book or comic book.

It costs a lot of money to start a new franchise so to the studios it is cheaper to just remake something that already has some name recognition.

But, if the kids are lazy nowadays works for you

That being said there has been tremendous innovation in television with shows like The Wire, The Sopranos, Dexter, Mad Men, etc. So I am not sure why the movie studios are always going back to remakes.
