I just can't classify ROBOCOP as a classic. It was a fun yet extremely cheesey '80s flick. I remember it with some fondness, but I wouldn't call it a classic. THE TERMINATOR is a classic. BLADE RUNNER is a classic. ALIEN and ALIENS are classics. ROBOCOP is more like THE RUNNING MAN or PREDATOR -- 90+ minutes of dumb fun.
Ah yes, well I didn't realise about the thing. So carpenter took a poor B movie and improved it? And robocop is satire, it's not cheesy! It's only cheesy if you try to take it seriously imo.

But the Ford Taurus needs to. That vehicle had as much a starring role in the movie as Weller did.

I haven't seen it in a while, but I do remember hearing an audible sigh in the theater when (during one chase scene) the Taurus was hit in the windshield by a shotgun (leaving a huge hole) and the next shot shows it coming up alongside with a wholly intact windshield. It made me laugh because so many people in the theater were thinking: Continuity........HELLO!!!!!
