I actually liked John Carter and The Lone Ranger (altho I could've done without Johnny Depp's histrionics in that one)

The Burton-Taylor "Cleopatra" was a famous box office calamity, but until Caesar gets killed, its actually not a bad historic soap opera at all. Rex Harrison is really good as Caesar, the kind of performance where you can tell the actor is really enjoying himself.

After Julie is assassinated the film goes quickly south, an overly long gab fest between Cleo and Mark with no one saying anything memorable or clever. You get a bang toward the end with the staging of the sea battle, then it is another prolonged chat fest until the audience is finally relived by the suicides.

Remember being a video store clerk in the mid-80's and trying to convince people that A Christmas Story was a good movie. Especially this time of year, it was about the last Christmas movie still sitting on a shelf, unrented all by itself in our Christmas movie section. Nobody had heard about the movie and I remember forcing it upon a couple of people to try it. Within a year it had taken on a life of it's own and was next to impossible to find a rental copy around the holidays.

The Lone Ranger..it was summer action, comedy...
Johnny Depp was great...have no idea why it was so panned.
It was simple fun, nothing more.

I actually liked Cowboys & Aliens too. I didn't love it. But it was okay. It certainly didn't deserve to flop.

I actually really liked John Carter, though of course it was panned and flopped. I am really disappointed that it won't get a sequel.

I am also an avid fan of Waterworld, as dumb as it is.

The Hudsucker Proxy is an underrated Coen movie. I really like the set designs, cinematography and humor.
