Seems Johnny Depp is doing a serious sci-fi thriller that reminded me of Lawnmower man. The trailer looked good. Depp is a scientist that downloads his consciousness into a computer and becomes powerful and tries to take over. Not a new concept, But have not seen this type of film in a while.

I think Depp is talented and love his looks

But he's made a lot of mediocre film picks. Not going on anything other than what you wrote, doesn't sound that good to me. Like a another Secret Window which was terrible.

Finally saw this movie. Not bad. 8/10 for me. Very simple to follow. Could be better.

Thought it was terrible myself.

http://www.korsgaardscommentary.com/...scendence.html

They give away the ending in the first ten minutes, Johnny Depp looks like he got bored giving his performance on Skype, the core man vs. machine plot has been done better dozens of times before, and had moments of mind-bending stupidity. The climax involved trying to turn off the internet for crying out loud.

There's all kinds of lists about nuclear war inspired horror movies from the 50's - Nuclear monster movies: Sci-fi films in the 1950s were terrifying escapism.

Years from now there will be lists of movies of AI inspired horrors, and Transcendence will be in the top ten. But it will still suck.
