As a kid that grew up in the 80s, Robocop was an all-time classic. up there with the first two terminators, Rambo, Dirty Harry, etc. Just a straight up old school, hardcore action flick. I mean for heaven's sake, Robocop had a 3-round burst pistol and ED-209 had gatling guns built into his arms. EPIC stuff.
As a 31 year old today, I can obviously see where Robocop falls short in a lot of categories of movie making, but you've got to be a fan of the genre to really understand how special Robocop was to kids like me at that time.

I'd list the first 2 Terminator flicks as some of my all-time favorite movies, and I love Ahnuld movies, even the bad ones. But even as a 14 year old, I thought Robocop was dumb. Saw it in the theater, and maybe a couple of times since. Never impressed.
That said, the concept isn't bad. Yes, it's a total Terminator rip-off, but Terminator itself was a rip-off, so who knows? Maybe the remake can turn this coal into a diamond, or at least an entertaining bit of zirconium.
I liked the original, as I am a fan of 80s action flicks. I will watch the remake, mostly because im interested in seeing Holder from the Killing as Robocop, should be interesting. On a side note, the recent remake of Dredd was way better than the original, in my opinion, so there is hope for remakes.
Pretty much. There's a good chance this Robocop remake is gonna suck.
How can you remake a graphic, ultra-violent Rated R movie into a PG-13 movie and expect to do it justice?! Just to sell a few more tickets? Lame.
Hollywood sucks these days, for the most part anyway.
I can remember there being toys back in 87, but I actually had a few Robocop action figures for the Rated R movie. I wont see this one in theaters though mainly because of the rating. Alex Murphy should always die a painful death, not get injured and then turned into a cyborg. Kill the cop, he aint Anakin Skywalker.

You and I are from the same generation and most kids who were "tools" growing up wont really like it that much. There are many classic lines and classic scenes from the first movie though. The violence in the movie was enough to scare any kid our age. Especially the scene where the guy drives into the acid waste container....just a crazy scene. This guy

Toronto was very happy to be the place where Robocop was filmed. A 200 million dollar budget all spent here, and over 3,000 crew and support jobs, for a 10 month shooting schedule. Thanks.
