Back in the mid-1960s, before he was famous, Jack Nicholson appeared in two low-budget westerns filmed back-to-back: The Shooting and Ride in the Whirlwind. In addition to Nicholson, both movies starred Millie Perkins. They were filmed in Utah. Although the films played well in France, they had no big-screen release in the U.S. From what I have read about them (haven't seen them), these films seemed to have more in common with the "Spaghetti Westerns" that were becoming popular at the time.

The only movie I have seen of Jack from the mid-'60s is this one called,
The St.Valentine's Day Massacre (1967). Jack Nicholson has
a bit part as a gangster. He has one line...& appears to be dubbed in.

Yes, I have seen "Ride in the Whirlwind". But it wasn't in 1960s (I was born only in 1977!). This was last year and I had bought the film on DVD.

Jack Nicholson is very popular in Russia. They say even President Putin is a fan of this great actor.
