The Out of Towners - the original with Sandy Dennis and Jack Lemmon. No idea at the outset how funny this movie turns out to be, but it was side-splitting, tear-inducing, pants-wetting hilarious.

Most of the ones listed here I've not even seen because the trailers didn't invite me. Best in Show was entertaining, but more in a smirking way.

For all the honors to Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy and Chaplin, I rarely find any of them funny. Abbott and Costello were funny - when I was a kid at the Saturday matinee - nine cents for a cartoon, newsreel, chapter (to be cont'd next week!), and a double feature. Back then, it was quantity over quality. Now I find subtle comedy to be more entertaining. But that's just me.

"In the Loop"
"Little Miss Sunshine"
"Office Space"

I agree with lots that have already been mentioned, here's two that haven't been:

"Big Trouble" - Tim Allen, Rene Russo and way too many others to name

"Rat Race" - John Cleese, Whoopie Goldberg, Dave Thomas and John Lovitz

"Weekend at Bernies"
&
"Best of Show"- this movie is so boring for the first 10 minutes you want to walk out and then you can't stop laughing.

I think "The Naked Gun" will always be my favorite comedy, even over "Airplane!"

It's pretty close! Love them both. Also agree with Blazing Saddles. High Anxiety is another great Mel Brooks movie.

Other contenders were the Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder movies in the 70s.

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

The first Police Academy movie.
