Speaking of "Gravity," how many people here noticed that little cottage in the distance that she starts walking toward when she climbs out of the lake or whatever it was in which she landed? I'm surprised at how many people seem not to have noticed it, although it is rather small and is only onscreen for a second or two.
My take on Gravity was that it was essentially "let's see how many life-or-death scenarios we can cram into 90 minutes."
At the end, I truly, truly expected to see a crocodile or something lunge out of the water and grab her by the legs and do a deathroll with her.
I really hated the atmosphere of this movie, even though there is no reason to expect it to be anything but dreary. There is something about Sandra Bullock that is just too everyday mom-like that I can't get over. Maybe it would be better to watch it on an IMax and not a tiny inflight entertainment screen.
I tried to watch Gravity, but after what 30 minutes of nothing happening I got too bored and switched movies. Never seen Wolf. I'll obtain it and watch it tonight, looks interesting and I like Leo. Maybe I'll try Gravity again when I can get really stoned lol.
Wolf was excellent. Maybe if people took the time to find out what a movie was about before seeing it, they wouldn't find themselves watching something they find "offensive" or tasteless. The movie was based on real events, therefore far more fascinating than some made up Disney movie. To each their own I guess.
I almost watched both movies this weekend, but wasn't really that I interested. I'm not a huge fan of Bullock or Clooney, but would have now liked to seen the movie on IMax, if only for special effects.
Wolf of Wallstreet has the overdone feeling to it w/o even seeing it. I like Leonardo DiCapprio, he's one of the few in his generation that can act, however, still not enough interest to watch it.
I really liked Michael Douglas in Wall Street and remember seeing it the theater and liked the movie overall, this too is based on real life events. So I don't feel the need to see another one similar to this.
Loved Gravity, everything about it, the human elements, the special effects, all of it.
And best of all, Gravity seems to have revitalized 3D as a medium.
I remember before Gravity came out, there were articles discussing how 3D seemed to be on the way out, a dying form, no one was interested in it anymore. And when Gravity became a huge hit, it seemed to show that there was still an audience demand for 3D movies.
