So, they're filming Snowden. I was pretty surprised to see that a movie about the guy is being made already. The story is not over. The guy is only 31 years old. I'm sure it will be an entertaining enough feature, but the idea struck me as odd.

Being Oliver Stone, it will probably be a brilliant piece of filmmaking that has absolutely nothing to do with actual facts.

The most interesting part of his story is over. The movie doesn't really need to cover his upcoming decades in Russia.

Really?!?

And you couldn't bother giving us some links?

I'd go see that in a heartbeat.

I was surprised that The Fifth Estate about Julian Assange didn't do well. I thought it was pretty good, especially given the material.

What link? They are currently filming, it comes out on Christmas. Joseph Gordon Levitt stars as Snowden while Zachary Quinto plays Greenwald, and there are a few other big names in the cast as well. It's a much simpler story than Assange's, so I'm just hoping they tell accurately and without passing judgement.

I'm sure a bulk of the movie will be in that Hong Kong hotel room. There were some photos of Levitt filming basic training scenes, so it seems like they will be telling Snowden's life story too and not just diving right into him leaking the documents.

Lol, like JFK. Stone was so giddy with the thought of influencing malleable minds, he didn't bother to get the seating right in the death car.

I am looking forward to seeing this.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Eyes Edward Snowden Role in Oliver Stone Movie

Stone acquired the rights to the book “Time of the Octopus” by Snowden’s lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, which is considered the closest thing to a documented account of the events since Snowden first released the documents.

If the deal is made, production would likely begin at the end of the year or in the early first quarter of 2015.

Production already started. Are you just copy and pasting from the article?

I watched the documentary on HBO. Very good. But I can't imagine the movie would cover anything new or be exciting. I'll watch it but if they try to overdramatize it then it will be awful.
