The Wages of Fear, 1953 in Black & White (I saw it at a film festival) starring Yves Montand. Simple, low budget film compared to others mentioned but has you on the edge of your seat most of the time.

Re: 'A Simple Plan'...

Yes...absolutely riveting. And Fred Zinneman's film 'The Day of the Jackal' is a stunning portrayal of an assassin doing what he's paid to do. Interesting thing is you really never know what that guy thinks in his head. All his concern is simply carrying out the mission'. Brilliant film from a great director.

loves2read, I saw "The Changeling" and enjoy George C. Scott's acting very much. I thought it was a heart-wrenching story, but don't recall being actually scared by it. Your story about the crawling guy was hilarious!

Its an oldie from 97 but I thought The Spanish Prisoner as very suspenseful...Only saw it once..would like to see it again..

Joy Ride....that freaked me out

Perfect Getaway...another Steve Zahn movie...

Two other ones were good but did awful according to critics but I don't care!!! Body Double and Deadfall....

A masterpiece film directed by Don Coscarelli in 1979 is my favorite suspenseful movie of all time. Here is a clip from the film where the main character meets up with "The Tall Man" character. The background music/score is heard throughout the entire film. This film is a cult classic.

I LOVE Suspense- it's my all time favorite types of movies. For me, one of the greatest suspense movies was The Secret Window with Johnny Depp.

Also, The Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson.

Agree.

Any other film maker might have ruined it with stupid background music.

The lack of any other sound but the participants and environment heightens the power. There are several other memorable scenes.

Truly a great movie.
