Saw this today—-
Hadn’t seen any trailers previously but read some parts of reviews that were positive about Kidman’s performance...
While I think Kidman was very good in this—
It is very different from her normal fare and some viewers might not even recognize her as the older version of her character
She is supposed to be LA area sheriff’s detective—sometimes her Aussie accent sneaks in
Very physical role
Some violent fight scenes—
Script has some issues—
The “hook” in it I didn’t see coming and won’t explain any more about it
but pacing is problem, lack of clarity you have to piece together leaves weak threads
and the realism of her behavior as a detective—would she really get away with doing what she does—
Some characters are just shells because that is all script calls for...and some of them needed to be more than that...
But it is interesting movie if you think Kidman is good actress
I know some people don’t
This is a stretch for her—pretty physical (and she is not that young) and she can’t use her beauty or sex appeal/glamor
I could see Naomi Watts or Charlize Theron in this role easier than Kidman but the movie’s faults are not hers IMO
That's the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread topic. Then I remembered that the Kinks had a song called Destroyer.
I wonder which one this movie is based on?
