DRAMA • SCI-FI • THRILLER
OCTOBER 4, 2013(USA)
SYNOPSIS: Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone--tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
The trailer is visually impressive and the situation and what it denotes-Being stranded in space with oxygen and time running out are a scary thought.
A scene in the trailer shows an astronaut tumbling out into space unteathered to anything at all. Can't see this one having a happy ending realistically. There would not be enough time to prep another space launch to get them in time.

Sounds like some sort of sleep-apnea induced nightmare...no thanks.
We went to this today. I can't remember when 2 hours went by that fast. An excellent story about a devastating chain of events that befall a Space Shuttle crew making repairs to the Hubble Space Telescope. Starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Acted very well and all very plausible events.

I rarely see movies in 3D, but this will be worth the $12.25 admission price, and the running time is a scant 91 minutes, which is almost unheard of, compared to the hefty 2:29 running time for 'Prisoners'.
The projected opening weekend boxoffice gross of $48,000,000 will be the best October opening ever for a non-sequel.
Can't wait to see it! They were playing Spacecamp on cable last night and i had not seen that on in a long time. It had a similar story and no doubt was played due to gravity's influence. The whole concept is scary and not far fetched either.
I haven't seen it yet and from all the ads I was like "Bullock" as an astronaut? Can't see it..." But after the NPR interview, Bullock as a 1st time astronaut, ok - genius casting.
