I had been looking forward to seeing "The Assassination of Jesse James" but it is 2 hours and 40 mins long I think that long of a movie is best viewed while prone on my comfy couch!

I am suspicious of films that are only a hour and a half....I think they started with a 2 hr film and cut bad parts.

Two hours is perfect.

Mainstreet, I am not suspicious of a movie that is an hour and a half, but I agree with you that 2 hours is just right and that any more than that is really a bit much.
Director's Cuts usually bore me.

Two hours is just right. But if it went over Two hours, say 2 hours and 45 minutes. I would be just as happy with that, just so long as the movie didn't drag on

I agree w/ the 2 hrs, but I wouldn't put off a movie just by its length. I've made that mistake before.

For example, I didn't want to see Lord of the Rings because it was 3 hrs + (went because my bf was a fan), but those 3 hrs wound up the fastest of my life! I guess it's a subjective thing.

Of course, and that movie in particular is better in the theater than at home.

A really good movie won't drag, because you will be so entranced that you won't get fidgety or bored.

I didn't notice how long Braveheart was, even Lawrence of Arabia did not drag.
But when it comes to optimum movie length, two hours works best for me.

I think it all depends on what type of movie and how interesting the movie is, some movies I see I wish they were longer and others I wish were shorter. I tried to watch all 3 Lord of The Rings one after the other and could only watch the first 2 then had enough its hard work.

Maybe it's just me, but it really does seem like movies are getting longer and longer. It seems like movies not all that long ago were clocking in on average at arond 90 minutes, and now there are so many that are 2.5 or even 3 hours long. I think it depends on the film and the quality of it of course, but in general, two hours is a good amount of time. I think comedies work better when they're shorter and thrillers work better when they're longer.

For my hubby and me....we hate to pay the theater prices for a movie that is barely 90 minutes....we wait for DVD. Otherwise, I agree....2 hrs is great but if it is an entralling movie, I will sit forever and be bummed when it is over regardless of the length!!!

I think any movie worth its salt should be at least 2 hours. I have seen longer movies that were very good and because of the quality of the movie I did not realize just how long the movie was. I want to see the Assination of Jesse James too, but it is not playing in my area

I dont care how long a movie is, as long as it can keep my attention up for the entire time. Like Lord of the Rings as someone mentioned. Or Pirates of the Caribbean.. the first 2 are pretty long but theyre awesome, the third one kind of dragged on too much.
