This is one reason why I am a fan of Matt Damon. Never saw this in the theater we picked it up from Redbox last now & we were very surprised on how good this was! While I have a more then decent DVD collection I am picky about what I buy & I'll have to add this to my collection!

If you haven't seen it then please do!

Good movie. If you are a reader, I recommend the book to you -- especially the audiobook. It is surprisingly funny. (The movie had some funny moments, but not nearly as many as are in the book.)

I just viewed The Martian, good movie, another blast by the great Ridley Scott and crew!

But the whole premise/basis was that the ship might tip over in a storm, entirely preventable with some anchors and rope?

Great Wall very entertaining better than Mars, which was OK. Best recent Damon movie that has hot asian girls with spears.

I just watched The Martian on DVD the other day and wished I had seen it in the theater when it first came out. Great movie. Another winner for Damon.

The rope, yes, they could have brought that along for the trip... prolly not the anchors.

I liked The Martian, (as I also did Gravity)

I still enjoy them, , and have watched them several times.
But each time I watch them, I keep finding more and more plot holes.

For The Martian, Dust Storms:
Spoiler
Because of how Earth and Mars go around the sun, it takes about 9 months to get there and to return, but you MUST stay on Mars for 3-4 months before you can start back.
THEREFORE: mission engineers will plan on the ground facilities to be survivable (with a LARGE safety factor) for that kind of extended period, for all dangers that are known. IE: planet-wide wind-storms that last weeks or months, blowing dust that is not only caustic, but probably toxic.
