We took our almost -5 grandson today...not familiar with the books--our son was too old by time they started and grandson is little too young so didn't know exactly what we would have to sit through--but...
Movie was a delight all the way
Animation technique, voices, the story line---one of the best children's movies in past years
And the "lessons" the movie contained were not patronizing but legitimate and accessible for children and adults
I would happily go again and think it should be a classic that you rewatch and enjoy over the years...
I am glad I didn't waste my money to see it in theaters- Dreamworks has had better films. But Dreamworks turned it into a series on Netflix if you are interested.
