Poltergeist scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid.

Sinister disturbed me as an adult.

I know, pretty tame by todays standards, but in 1983 seeing people get vaporized was really disturbing

Only 2 movies made me scared to hell. Child's Play when I was a kid and the first part of Grudge movie.
