There was a late '80's tv flick called "The Alamo: Thirteen Days of Glory", a low budget version of the Alamo story with Alec Baldwin as Colonel Travis. He was appropriately cast, but for the 49 year old Davey Crockett, they cast the 66 year old Brian Keith. For the 39 year old Jim Bowie, they cast the 64 year old James Arness.
Crockett and Bowie of course were rugged frontiersmen, but here they were depicted by these two fossils who could act okay for the speaking parts, but in the action scenes looked ridiculous because they moved about like men in their mid 60's.
They also cast Raul Julia as Santa Anna and he played him like some frustrated cartoon animal who can never quite catch that elusive prey.
Baldwin was actually very good, but the rest.....what were they thinking?
