I liked this movie a lot, the Wyoming setting is the star, we don't see many stories set out there. I also liked the focus on Native American reservations and how they've become places of violence and hopelessness, much like the urban ghetto. Just another group of people shuttered away by the government and forgotten.

The shootout scene was a highlight.

Ironically, it was filmed in Colorado!

^ I would rank it slightly higher that this, being I saw it on a $4.00 Tuesday. A plus was the depiction of strong women roles.

Spoiler
I liked the OK Coral scene. Strong women roles: the victim (6 miles instead of 6oo yards), and the FBI agent, of course.
So all in all I'm glad I went to see it.

No. A few scenes were shot in Wyoming, but the bulk of the wilderness scenes were shot in Utah.

Great movie. Saw it yesterday. Only two semi-weak plot points, but all in all a great movie. Highly recommended. A mystery with some real heart and depth. Fantastic acting and scenery. Great music. And unlike many directors, this one isn't afraid of quiet moments.

Not surprising considering there are probably more crew that live in and around the Salt Lake City/Park City area, plus I'd imagine the tax credits from Utah, are better than Wyoming. And for those who have never been to the Wind River Indian Reservation, they wouldn't know or see any difference.

Is Wind River a Wyoming movie?

I'm hoping Jeremy Renner earns an Oscar nomination for that performance. It deserves it!

Just watched this, I was blown away. What an excellent film!!! Renner crushed it. Olsen waa good too.

What beautiful scenery. It takes place in WY but I think it was shot in CO.

I love....LOVE "slow burn" movies. Wind River is definitely that.
