I watched it and then did my research to find out how much of the story is based on a true story. It seems that 95% of it is made up, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't know what Oliver Stone and the writers were trying to accomplish though.
I mean how are we the audience suppose to take the conspiracy theory seriously when almost all of it was made up for the movie? Or are we not suppose to take it as a true story and accept it as a fictionalized entertainment, with nothing more profound to say?
It is one of the most brilliantly edited and paced movies ever made. A great, entertaining movie.
As a factual account? I have never seen a movie more paranoid and delusional. Let's recap: The Mafia and the commies teamed up with the American military industrial complex, drug runners, the Roman Catholic Church, members of Congress, Lyndon Johnson, and a cult of southern homosexual hedonists to assassinate the President. Who was NOT involved at this point? The Boy Scouts?
Stone says he’s in a different place now than he was when he made “JFK.” He frankly appears to be more weary of the global power structure than ever before. He says he feels like he knows a lot more about government now and “the American fairytale” that’s conjured for mass consumption, and that “JFK” holds a special place for fronting that message of questioning our higher offices.
