Hughes wrote the Home Alone sequels? Awe, his quality did go down after Home Alone then.

I think it mainly resonates with people who can relate to it. The guy overdoing the Christmas lights, the agonizing family gathering, the deadbeat relative who shows up uninvited and makes himself at home, the snobby neighbors, the unexpectedly disappointing Christmas bonus. These are things most of us experience and roll our eyes at, and we get to see them play out with people reacting the way we want to react. People who haven't experienced any of those things probably can't relate, and therefore don't get why others like it.

****ter's full, Clark.

Dutch & Baby's Day Out were perfect cartoony movies.

"Dutch" was Al Bundy on the big screen.

"Baby's Day Out" was like an old Tom & Jerry cartoon turned into live action.

Overall the movie is decent. But it's on too much.

A couple scenes I like are:

Bend Over and I'll Show You

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hT-t19CJ4E

Uncle Lewis: So What's A Matter With You?
Clark: My Tree!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zk1CYTwjg1A

But I get a real kick out of the old credit card charge plate scene.
You hear Hey Santa Claus by The Moonglows as people charge all their gifts.

I love Natl Lampoons Christmas Vacation. I love the acting, and I love the theme song " Hip hip hooray, it's Christmas vacation". Other great Christmas movies I enjoy are Scrooged, Polar Express, A Christmas Story, and a new movie I just discovered called Pottersville. It's on Netflix. If you care to, also check out Christmas Calendar, and Christmas Break-Up.

LOVE this movie! It takes real situations and relatives most of us have and just blows them out of proportion.

I love the dog, Snot....

It is silly, but I Love it. The timing of Chevy Chase is perfect. I love the hick cousin and his family, the cat that is gift wrapped, the movie watching in the attic (in that funny woman's hat!) The Griswalds are part of my Christmas.

It screams Christmas to me, I watch it every year.

If you saw the movie when it was released, you likely loved it (at least I did). Watching it again today, it's not the same. The humor has changed over the years. The actors/actresses have changed and how you feel towards them.

I would still consider this a classic holiday movie, but is dated.

I meant "Holiday Calendar " on Netflix. There is a movie titled "Christmas Calendar" that I was not referring to.

I'll disagree on "perfect".. Dutch wasn't horrible. I mean, to a kid, it was probably OK. Which I was 16 or so when it came out. And I didn't think it was horrible at the time.

I actually rewatched it maybe 6 or 7 years ago.. Doesn't hold up well.
