In fact, the reverse is true as well. When someone sets out to produce Great Art or something Truly Original, they usually end up producing something Really Bad.

I'm not sure if this phenomenon could be so easily generalised. Time is a huge factor in how we view things and, as they say, hindsight is 20/20. After all, many original artists and art did not find immediate recognition.
