So, I was on an international flight recently and thought that “Justice League” was the only title worth watching among all the ones offered.

Is this what movies have come to?

I would disagree, plenty of good movies. How about you tell us why you think otherwise.

No. The genre may just provide non-thought-provoking visuals many people will pay admission to see. Endless action sequences that don't challenge their brains. IMHO they're not worth watching.

Same here. If you really like movies branch out to TCM, Turner Classic Movies, on 24 hours a day...

and see independent films on Netflix or Amazon or at the theater. These kinds of films are not made to be blockbusters but rather made with quality and interesting subject matter...they might not offer the biggest stars or any stars at all. Just a wonderful viewing experience.

I suggest watching some of the nominees from the Oscars, Golden Globes and Sundance Film Festivals.

I find plenty of movies to watch, and none of them are sci fi / fantasy / superhero etc.

On the last international flight that I took there were films from both nations along with a mix of genres. Worth watching is a your mileage may vary type of standard

It is because all the talented writers are now in television.

Yes, I know that there are still lots of good movies released in theaters every year. But in past decades, all the quality went into making major motion pictures, while television was relegated to formulaic writing, and all TV writers dreamed of someday writing a movie.

That has totally and completely changed. The best writers in Hollywood are all now working on TV, and the hacks are writing movies.
