I'm looking for more realistic films that do good jobs of showing political and corporate corruption.

For political all I can think of now is All the President's Men. The other ones like House of Cards I find over the top. Spotlight about the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal is also pretty good.

For private sector there's Wall Street and The Wolf of Wall Street. There was also a Russell Crow movie about a scientist working for a tobacco company that I liked a lot.

I prefer films that do not require murders or action sequences to generate narrative momentum. If there are international films on the same theme I'd definitely appreciate these.

Oliver Stone's JFK. About as corrupt as it gets. Serpico. The TV series "The Deuce" was a very accurate depiction.

Thanks. I'll check these out. I can't believe I haven't seen Silkwood yet.
I think I saw Gallipoli a long time ago. Another good war movie on that theme is Paths of Glory.

I think some of the conspiracy elements were exaggerated in JFK. I saw a few episodes of The Deuce and liked the gritty realism, but it's kind of a slow burn for me. Serpico is a classic that I need to check out.

Most of these have some murders, hard to find movies about corruption without any murders.

The China Syndrome (nuke safety/corruption, nice companion to Silkwood)

Hoffa (union corruption)

The original and part 2 of 70's Walking Tall (new sheriff in southern town, corrupt system brought down by him)

Brubaker, Shawshank Redemption, Attica (prison corruption/reform)

Network (media corruption, great speech by Ned Beatty, Ned also did a great job in the Rockford Files 2 part Fiscal Dynamics episode)

Outland (good sci-fi movie about corruption on a future mining colony, new sheriff in town goes up against corporate goons)
