"Deception" from 1946 with Bette Davis, Paul Henreid and Claude Rains, last week's "Noir Alley" selection on TCM.
Great acting and dialogue. It's always fun to see what the writers got away with back then. An example: Claude Rains, seated at his dinner table, to Bette Davis (his former mistress, who has just walked into the room): "Good evening, my dear. Why, you look positively majestic. I think I'd better remain seated."
I recently watched Ghost Shark 2: Urban Jaws. It is a New Zealand movie from about seven years ago. The Māori word for shark is mango. On top of that, I've been listening to this year's podcasts for the TV show Celebrity Treasure Island.
I'm halfway through the latest Mission Impossible film, and I'm very surprised at how much comedy it has, more comedy than all the others. Plus its like a sci-fi film, because the main theme is

artificial intelligence.
Also the music is better in this film than the other MI films, has more variety than the others.
Also, Tom Cruise has better chemistry with Hayley Atwell, than with any of his previous co-star actresses.
No wonder they are a couple in real life.
I'm kind of surprised the director Christopher McQuarrie made Dead Reckoning so much different to Fallout and Rogue Nation.
I'm glad he succeeded in that, because I didn't like Fallout or Rogue Nation much.
And I felt like Fallout and Rogue Nation were too similar to each other in tone and also didn't vary the music enough.
And McQuarrie is the only director to make more than ONE mission impossible film (and he'll end up making FOUR when "Dead Reckoning Part 2" is released).
I've always said its a bad idea give a director more than ONE mission impossible film, because they might make the films too similar.... but at least Dead Reckoning is not similar.
Mediocre. At some points, rather boring and confusing which way it is going but toward the end, it picks up. It looks a good wholesome ending but then.......things take off at faster than warp drive, one arrives at the last round up with no notion how they got there and sure enough.....my version is 11 minutes shorter than the original. Stop at 1:22 if you have the 1:26 version and let them ride off into the sunset from there. A 4.5.

Jamie Foxx is a hostage in a goofy convenience store robbery. Mostly a comedy, with a little bit of romantic comedy. Good cast, but almost no plot. Good for a couple laughs, and late 9os nostalgia.
I think I streamed it on Prime.
