Saw it last night, and wow!

I'm no feminist, but critics are right. This movie is Falling Down for the MeToo generation.

It goes to some ugly places, all necessary. The last 15 minutes toys with you and looks bleak, but seeing it come together rocks your world. The role of a lifetime for Carey Mulligan.

I'd like to see it. I take it, it's a revenge type thriller?

There was a hilarious revenge type thriller tv movie. From the 1970s. It was called, The Girl Most Likely To. It
was written by Joan Rivers and starred Stockard Channing (Rizzo from Grease). Great (getting even) flick.

Is this another woke film? I liked Falling Down and I like dark comedies, but I'm not watching any more woke crap.

Saw it last night. It was a riot from beginning to end. The cast is excellent and the direction is slick and intelligent. It's everything Gone Girl claims to be and does it even better. Really hope Emerald Fennell gets a best director nomination.

This was not at all what I was expecting. I was expecting one of those 'revenge porn' type movies with a ton of gore.

It was absolutely nothing like that and I really enjoyed it.

Of course you would say that, "Mike."

Haha - well thank goodness you're not that bad "f" word! But good to know that people recognize that it is a major issue that affects a great many people and not one made up just to get attention or somesuch crap.

Well, that is what is TYPICAL of the genre - juxtaposing titillation with violence is disgusting. THIS is a much more honest presentation of what women experience and what a lot of men are like.

I haven't seen it, but this article is interesting, written by its writer-director, Emerald Fennell.

“WALK OF SHAAAAME!” It’s a gag, really, isn’t it? Seeing a woman stumbling home, shoes in hand, last night’s makeup under her eyes, her sparkly dress catching the judgmental light of day. Just like it’s a gag to see a girl wake up with a start and turning with slow dread to see the lump of a body in the bed next to her: Who is that? OOPS!

Girls and their bodies have been a punchline for a long, long time. In the movies as much as in life. High school boys hide in locker rooms, peer through cracks in doors, leave their webcams on so their friends can take a peek. Grown men wait patiently at bars, keeping an eye out for the drunkest woman to emerge at closing time. “Romances” begin in the midst of a blackout. And at parties, the girls’ red plastic cups are inevitably filled just that liiiittle bit more than the guys’ cups. Seduction by any means necessary...

...So what happens when abusing women is a joke? What happens when something cruel and damaging is normal behavior?"
