Well, this is true. (Or at least in my opinion.)

Your opinion is the correct opinion, sir. All others can consider themselves henceforth on double secret probation.

The cinematography, cast, VFX and perhaps the soundtrack will be on point.

The big grey area — I mean BIG — is the narrative.

Yeah. I honestly have no clue how he is going to fit DUNE into anything less than a nine hour movie. This shouldn't be a movie. It should be an HBO mini-series.

I saw the original and, panned as it was, it was stange and fantastical enough that it inspired me to read all six of the original books. Years later I watched the expanded version on TV, and the sci-fi channel original.

I can say that there has yet to be a perfect version. It has to balance the exposition that explains this truly strange universe with enough action to keep it moving. No mean feat.

I will be blunt and say that I am not sure it can be done. The book it a classic, and Lych's movie in its first, truncated format is just visually interesting enough (with an amazing cast!) that it will contiue to stand as a cult classic that sucks new generations in.

But I will sure give the new one a go.
