Hope someone can help settle a bet. Last night, DH and I watched the 2004 version of The Alamo on AMC. Near the end of the movie, Sam Houston/Dennis Quaid emerges alone from the woods. At the far end of the meadow is Santa Ana and his army. Sam Houston/Dennis Quaid says something, but at that exact moment our neighbor came home and slammed his car door. What did he say? DH thinks it is one thing and I another. I have several sites for movie quotes, to no avail.
Thanks for trying, golfgod, this scene happened before the eighteen minute battle where the Texdcans defeated Santa Ana's armies. Yeah, I will try to catch a repeat showing.
Well, I found the answer, ......dang, DH was right! AMC re-ran the show this afternoon. When Sam Houston/Dennis Quaid is challenged by the Texicans for continuing to retreat, he explains the strategy that led to Napolean's defeat at Waterloo and says he doesn't know the name of the place his is looking for yet. In the scene in question, he emerges from the forest, sees Santa Ana's troops at the far end of the clearing, and asks the field, "What's your name?"
