I don't recall. Has "Mildred Pierce" been mentioned? I was thinking of all of the cooking and baking going on in that one, particularly those scenes in the restaurant. Joan Crawford and Ann Blythe squaring off is so memorable.
"My mother~a waitress!"
How obscure is this?
The Baker (2007)
IMDb synopsis:
A hitman has second thoughts about his career and seeks refuge from his boss by finding work as a baker in a rural Welsh village.
Not a film, but a television series (it ran only one year) I loved was Pasta. (it's available at Hulu.com or at Netflix)
You guys are too liberal in your foodie movies. They need to be about the love of the making of food, not just eating it. But you've named some good ones - Tortilla Soup, Mostly Martha, Like Water for Chocolate, Chocolat. Whoever said Soylent Green, though, is sick!
I like FATSO with Dom DeLuise. My fave scene is when he is lambasting his equally fat cousin because "you don't know how to run your plate."
