It would be something if he wins the Golden Globe and there is talk he may be up for an Oscar as well. As some of the posters mentioned above if you haven't seen "The Pope Of Greenwich Village" please do, it's pretty good and worth a look.

I read Mickey was in The Outsiders. I've seen that movie quite a few times but I don't remember him being in it. Anyone remember him being in it?

I just saw the Wrestler tonight. Wow, what a sad movie! Mickey Rourke gives a phenomenal performance. Marisa Tomei is super believable as the stripper too.

A couple of classic performances--and well worth the Oscar nominations they received.

I loved mickey rourke's small part in one of my favorite movies, Body Heat. He was also great in another favorite, Pope of Greenwich Village. Very strange guy now- I have no intention of seeing his new movie.

I just saw the wrestler tonight, and man I feel like I was kicked in the crotch. Sad movie, MR did a hell of a job with the acting, I really believed that he was that "broken down hunk of meat", I saw him in a interview and he really seems like he must of had some kind of spiritual awakening because he was really modest and humble.

I also really enjoyed The Wrestler. It had a lot of depth and it was so real, not comical or hokey in any way in my opinion. I thought Rourke and Tomei acted their a sses off. Both really had something to prove in Hollywood, that they are both talented, capable, relevant actors who can bring it. I didnt see the movie until after the Oscars, but now I can certainly see why it had the nominations it did. Great movie and people just need to get past the Mickey Rourke weirdness and botched plastic surgery. Those elements of his appearance really made his character so much more believable IMO. Ive seen Brad Pitt get beaten up in movies, but somehow he still manages to look pretty - I dont think someone like him would have worked in this movie. Mickey Rourke was gritty and raw and his apperance reflects that, reflects someone whos done and seen some things in his life.

That was one of my favorite movies too. And when Mickey was on screen, you couldnt take your eyes off him. Not that he was "soo handsome" ala William Hurt, but he had the prescence, the star quality for sure. Dont know what happened to him over the years- steroids? Drugs? booze? all of the above?
