Dick Van Dyke in "Mary Poppins" has to be the worse though. His Cockney was painful . Johnny Depp in "Chocolat" was not too great either considering what a great actor he is and he was even worse in "Sweeney Todd".
I will never understand why film studios do not use actors from the country they are portraying ( OK I do understand it's about big bucks but still , artistically it stinks). There is nothing like the real thing... ( mind you people like Zeta Jones do not sound remotely Welsh or British , I guess she feels losing her accent has been in her favourand Keira Knightley sounds like her jaw has been wired).

Nicole Kidman is playing a British Aristocrat in "Australia" , why not have used a British Actress instead... It's a bit like when they use able-bodied actors to portray disabled people. It makes no sense whatsoever and is offensive in my opinion too.

That's funny, because she doesn't sound remotely American either! She has one of the worst American accents in a movie I have ever heard. I cringe when she talks...at best, she sounds like Elmer Fudd.
