Me I thought it was a really good movie up until after they graduated then it went downhill after that, the first 2/3rd's of the movie is pure gold but the final third kind of dragged.
If they would've had more scenes in basic training and have the movie end with them graduating it would've been a comedy classic
Agreed. But I still think it rates as a classic b/c of the first 2/3 of the movie. Along with Caddyshack, Animal House, Top Gun, and Fletch, it is one of the movies that my college roommates and I could practically quote the entire movie.
bad. very, very bad. though the basic training portion of the movie is funny at times, as a whole, being a military man, there are too many inconsistancies with reality that go beyond suspension of disbelief. the part that bugged me the most was how all the recruits except for the two lead characters get their heads shaved bald as all recruits do, yet they just take a little off the sides of the two lead characters.
I am not kidding, I've seen maybe bits of the original but I couldn't get into it then, I will have to give the movie another chance and I'm sure I would like the original Ghostbusters.
I am so glad I'm not alone when I thought they should have ended it after the graduation. I loved it up until then!
I used to feel the same way myself, the movie would've been one of the best comedies of all time if the movie did end with them graduating, wasn't that a big enough accomplishment for the recruits?
IMO it was cause they were in fear of having to repeat an entire course of basic training.
I liked the whole movie and think it stayed consistent the entire time. Consistently unbelievable but hilarious nonetheless.
I might be biased, I am a huge Bill Murray fan. I even liked Meatballs.
