For those who love all the giant moster movies over the years what was some of your favorites. I guess for me it's the 1962 classic ......''King Kong vs Godzilla'' as it was one heck of an battle between the two back in the day. What's some of your favorites ??

Trailer is in Japanese but you still get to see monster action scenes in it .

I grew up in the 50's-60's and was blessed to have parents and aunts and uncles take their kids, all cousins, to the movies for a triple feature on Saturdays while they did other things. We got to watch all those great sf and fantasy movies. Horror movies would come later at the drive-ins. We enjoyed all those cheesy, badly dubbed Japanese monster movies where Tokyo was always destroyed (and always the TV tower and a commuter train). Nice rich colors and cool monsters.

There were great US science fiction films that I remember. One was where astronauts had traveled to a strange planet and encountered a wall or mirrored barrier and one of them threw something and smashed a hole in it revealing a land on the other side. Don't remember any more. But we saw it at the Allen Theater in Takoma Park MD which has been gone for almost 50 years.

But the ones that really made an impression on me were Ray Harryhausen's Jason and the Argonauts and The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad. Don't know why but they stick with me, and were favorites of friends during the 70's.

Modern times... I had rented the 2005 remake of War of the Worlds and was unable to finish watching it. It just got too frightening and disturbing. I have not had this reaction to any film since I was unable to watch a scene in 1980's Hell Raiser (but still let it play, listening to horrible screams) and kept watching after the scene was over. The ferry boat scene is particularly scary. I should rent this again and watch it through.

I loved all the old Godzila movies when I was a kid. My favorite was when he fought the seamonster, I think it was a giant lobster. That and the smog monster.

I liked Gamera, King Kong, Mighty Joe Young, Gorgo and the sci-fi creatures like The Beast from 20,000 fathoms and 20 Million Miles From Earth.

Was Gamera the sort of turtle creature? He would spin around?

I liked Mothra.
Remember the little fairy princess girls who called Mothra?

I loved the wacky dubbed English, too. "Hurray! Victory is ours!"
