What was the title of a movie about a working class Hispanic family who has moved to L.A. or somewhere in Southern California and the teenage daughter meets a guy who is slightly older than her and her father doesn't approve of her dating him but the mother is cool about the daughter dating him, the father is a bit short tempered and the mother seems more relaxed and laid back.

The movie came out approximately in the late 1980s (1986-88 would be my guess)

Born in East L.A.

Cheech Marin was the father. Don't know who played the mother, but it wasn't Chong.

Unfortunately the movie wasn't Born in East L.A., I know it came out around the time Born in East L.A. came out.
