With Meryl Streep as Marg Thatcher. While Streep was amazing as always, this movie portrayer Mrs. Thatcher in the throes of dementia....yes it addressed all her triumphs over the yrs as Prime Minister of Britain, but my goodness!!
The dementia was, IMO, a very unflattering way to portray this great lady:
While she is still alive!!
We saw it last week too. Streep was fantastic, as usual. I agree with the critics...would have been a far better movie had they left the dementia crap out and concentrated on Thatcher's accomplishments as first woman Prime Minister of England. Surprised, as you were, that this movie was released while she was still alive.
I just saw "The Descendants" and thought it was good but not hardly the big winner of the year. (Also lots of "F's," which for me get old, especially when they are thrown around in movies by teenagers.)
I loved "Midnight in Paris" and "Moneyball." Two of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time!
Moneyball..................loved it!!! And considering that I'm not a Brad Pitt fan at all and not into sports at all I was surprised I even watched it--much less love it.
I would even say Pitt deserves the Oscar for his role.
A middle-aged man, lives w/his mom...but for a day or so, during Rome's annual August holiday, he is called upon to care for, watch over, cook for 4 elderly Italian women...
charming and funny.
