Seeking a Friend for the End of the World- Pretty good movie but seemed surreal in some parts, good ending.
Safety Not Guaranteed- Interesting concept for a movie, pretty well done. I liked how you questioned the characters throughout. Interesting ending.
Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2- I have never seen these before but I am getting more into horror. The first Evil Dead is eh, very Sam Raimi though. Evil Dead 2 was awesome! Lots of blood and cool effects(for the '80s), now on to see Army of Darkness!
I Spit On Your Grave(2010)- Didn't know what to expect when I first watched this but I was very impressed. The build up took some time but once the kills started going it was great!
The Game---- with Michael Douglas.
Now normally, I can't stand Douglas.
This movie was the exception!
Great movie, and great acting job by Douglas.
I just watched this movie again recently (saw it in the theatre first time 'round) & I agree with all you've said. It's extraordinarily well-done & holds up against time. Very good & different script & I too, although not a Douglas fan (he basically plays the same role in each movie... heartless billionaire), really liked him in this. Although, I'd hope to think there's no need for me to learn any life's lessons in the same manner.
5* out of 5.
PJ, have you seen A Perfect Murder with Douglas & Paltrow? Older film which also stands the test of time. He's his usual billionaire prat, but it's a remake of Dial M for Murder, Hitchcock's classic & well done. Another plus is it's Viggo Mortensen's first film & he's quite good. If you can get the DVD with commentary, it's brilliant... one of the best I've heard. Fun tidbits like Viggo created all the paintings himself in the film (they're very good) & lived in the community for 6-mos incognito as a starving artist to get the flavor of his character. I'm certain you'd like it.
Just saw A Fantastic Fear of Everything, a 2012 comedy with Simon Pegg, which was a huge disappointment. I loved Pegg in his TV series Spaced, but this movie just lets the same few quasi-jokes play over & over 'til it hurts. Okay, the 1st time nerdy, scrawny, red-haired Pegg busts a move with his rapper act, it's ever-so-mildly cute. The 6th time, it's annoying. The knife accidentally glued to the hand was a laugh for 1 prat fall... letting it play on for 30+ min was a mistake.
I stayed with it for 1/2-hr then just mostly listened to the rest whilst working. If you're not already disinterested, he's a writer afraid of being murdered based on some childhood fear of laundromats. At best, I'd say the script was lazy & formulaic. This would have been a good 30-min episode of a sitcom, but it's definitely not movie-worthy material. If you are a serious Pegg fan, you might want to see it for the 3 laughs & 3 half-smiles you'll gain in 2-hrs time. I'd say wait 'til the library carries it or you rent it with several others for backup from Netflix.
The last 3 movies I saw on the same day was "Taken 2" the movie and the TV series "Last Resort" and "Arrow"! Good movies on a scale from 1 to 10, I say they were 8.75!
I saw Argo...Great movie! I was way to young to remember what happened....
Not a fan of BA, but the story itself is worth a 'look see'
