Viva Villa! 1934, starring Wallace Beery, Fay Wray. Poncho Villa film. Watched it on TCM, and Robert Osborne's stories of WB were great, right down to him driving off sets with props that no one would accuse him of stealing. And the problems making this film, one actor getting fired for p'ng off a balcony on a troop of Mexican soldiers marching past. Oh, I liked the movie.
I've been going through the Mill Creek 50-packs lately.
Some gems, some average, some flops..
worth the $ for sure especially if you like obscure films
which are not replayed on tv.
The last movie I watched was a Nollywood (movie made in Nigeria) one called Yankee Students.
It has three parts. I finished 2 parts. The 3rd and final one is Internet Hustler (or something like that).
I love the Nollywood movies. The budget isn't high (they can't afford it yet), but that's okay. The culture is different. It's African (my homeland). The landscape is rich. The people are proud of their culture (although sometimes they try to act like "Yankees", lord knows why). The head dresses that some of the women wear are beautiful. I love the colorful jewelry and clothes, too.
Some of the Nollywood storylnes are good, too. I've learned lessions from most of the movies I've seen.
I'll get into Ghollywood (movies made in Ghana), too.
Sometimes I wish I lived in Africa. Then I consider the corruption, the poverty, the tribal prejudice, the patriarch (sp?) system, the caste system - and I'm glad to be a U.S. citizen after all.
Side Effects. One of the better Soderbergh movies I have seen.
