the thin blue line (1988), documentary about a cop murder in dallas. movie litteraly ends in the late eighties, so a google search revealed adams did get his conviction overturned (the movie shows his appeal getting rejected, and then overturned by the supreme court, but his death sentance is overturned by the da and changed to life) and set free a year after the movie came out in 1989. either you're in it to win it, or you're in it to find out who actually did it, to seek justice. you can't have both.

island of lost souls (1932), starring charles laughton as dr. moreau, and the panther woman. the perfect halloween movie. based on h.g. wells' book, with many films made, but this is the best. criterion collection, so several great supplements with the best being the devo interviews, since the film coined their phrase, are we not men?

[dr. moreau] what is the law?

[sayer of the law] not to eat meat. that is the law. are we not men?

and:

what's that?

the natives have a curious ceremony. mr. parker has witnessed it.

tell us about it edward.

oh it's nothing.

they are restless tonight.

and lest we forget bella lugosi's line as the sayer of the law:

house of pain!

Redemption with Jason Statham. Was really exceptional. Not the usual guns/heist/kidnap type movie he does. Deep, funny, sad and he was amazing. I started it thinking I may only watch half tonight and go to bed, but it hooked me to the end. That doesn't happen a lot for me lately lol! I'm in the middle of packing to move, and usually start to conk out pretty soon. But this movie kept me engaged. A great surprise. I had it on my DVD list on Netflix, and they just got it streaming, so I was able to watch it streaming, and didn't have to wait for the DVD.

I last watched a TV movie "Living with the Dead" (2002) that I found on one of the VHS tapes in the other room that no one watches..

Quite an inspirational movie! (I cried @ the end when the kids were hugging thier murderer (FORGIVING HER))

"The Fog"... with a very young Jamie Lee Curtis and Adrienne Barbeau. I've probably seen it 5 times but keep watching it.

I just watched The Conjouring. Must say that's the first movie since The Exorcist back in '73 that made my BP go up a bit.

Just watched Hard Times on Netflix streaming. Funny Irish movie. Don't want to give away the plot, but if you liked Waking Ned Divine or The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain or even The Full Monty (which was English, not Irish), you will probably love this movie. It was a lovely surprise. I would watch it again.
